Fast & Pray for America

LightHouse Devotional Week 6 Day 5

Fast & Pray for America                                     2/8/2018

Isaiah 6:10

Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise, they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.

During a fast, your spirit strengthens as your flesh weakens. You find in your times of prayer that you cry, your heart is broken, sometimes you may even sob with a burden so heavy it jerks your body but produces no tears. This is the Holy Spirit interceding through you.

When I read this passage in Isaiah, I think of how broken our Nation is, just like Israel was in Isaiah’s time. I imagine Isaiah was terrified to hear this Word from the Lord. He knew that Israel had passed the point of no return and their punishment for disobedience was going to be severe, and was very close at hand.

Is America past the point of no return? Our society has changed evil to good and good to evil. Our values and morals have eroded so much that even the basis of our society, the family unit, no longer bears any resemblance to what God intended it to be.

I can envision this passage coming true in today’s society. The American people’s hearts are calloused to things of God. Their eyes don’t see, and their ears don’t hear. What can we do?

We can continue to fast and pray. I took what is listed in this passage and turned them around into a prayer that I use every day to pray for America. Will you join me? You can use the prayer below, or any prayer, your own words, just pray for our Nation before we reach the point of no return.

Lord, I pray for my Nation. That You open their heart and take away the dullness. That You open and strengthen their eyes, so they can see you in their everyday life. That You open their ears to hear You speak and open their understanding, so Your Word pierces their heart. May the American people run to you and be healed. That all America may be saved.
