Why We Serve 4/18/2018

Ephesians 2:10  “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

God is the creator and sustainer of the world. The forces of gravity must work just right so that we are not crushed into oblivion or so that the world does not spin off into the darkness of the galaxy. If you were ever to sit down and think about all of the truly amazing things that must occur just to have sunlight, air to breathe, or for life even to exist, it would be mind-blowing.

In the same vein, God created us. We are more than just a complex creature with millions of cells and electrical impulses that produce thought. We have been given a calling and were created by design that defies the concept of time. In Ephesians 2:10, God’s word says that He created us, we are His handiwork. He has also pre-ordered our path so that we can succeed in what we have been designed to accomplish.

On a personal level, we may serve God for many reasons, but the chief reason that we should serve God is that we have been created to do so.

You are God’s original masterpiece. You are more precious to Him than any work of art. More than something to be admired on a wall, we are created with a purpose. I inquire of Him daily to confirm my purpose.

Do you know your purpose? Ask God today, and He will show you.
