Slave Master necklace

‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:21-23‬ ‭NLT‬‬
“I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.”

slav•er•y (ˈsleɪ və ri, ˈsleɪv ri) n.
1. the condition of a slave; bondage. 2. the keeping of slaves as a practice or institution. 3. a state of subjection like that of a slave. 4. severe toil; drudgery.

“…the sin that is still within me.” is my master. Do I have a choice? Is there anything that I can do about whom I serve? Am I in control of anything?

Yes.

Imagine each one of us is a plantation. Strange thought, but please bear with me. Imagine; only three people inhabit this plantation which is you. One person, called Soul, is a servant, the other two are potential masters – God and Satan.

These masters vie for complete ownership and control of Soul. Each master has taken great measures to train you to be the best for his purposes. You are precious to each one, although for different reasons.

One master is cruel, evil, and diminishing while the other master is kind, faithful, and patient. The slave must choose to which master he will give his allegiance. We can choose a ruthless master who thrives on deceit and punishment, or we can choose a gentle, uplifting master who is quick to forgive. The choice of which master we will serve is simple.

“It is for your own good,” each tells you when he disciplines you but one’s motive is to destroy, the other’s motive is to strengthen you in character and spirit.

One wants you to have what you want when you want it. The other wants you to depend on him to meet your needs. You are very important to him. Without you, one master has no power, the other holds all power and wants to share it with you. One would rather YOU die than to be without you. The other died for you.

We have a choice. We have the opportunity each day to decide which master to serve. Which one will you serve?
